Welcome to the Development Office

Head Master's Letter     What is the Foundation?

The Blundell’s Development Office exists to support Blundell’s School. With the help of Old Blundellians, parents, pupils, staff and friends of the school we can make a significant difference to Blundell’s thus ensuring the School remains one of the finest in the West Country, offering future generations the opportunity to experience what we regard as special about this place. Having been established nearly ten years ago, the Development Office is ideally placed to strengthen its links with the Old Blundellian Club to unite and build on its original objectives and to extend the role it plays in ensuring a strong and sustained development of the school as a whole.

Foundation Awards have been an integral part of the school for many years now. These allow those who may not ordinarily be able to afford a Blundell’s education to do so; it is the intention of the Governors to extend this provision to ensure this opportunity is available for many future generations to come. We will be focusing much of our activity in the forthcoming years on growing our ‘access to all’ by endowing bursaries under the ‘Peter Blundell Foundation’ and other individually named bursaries across a range of entry options at Year 7, 9 and into the Sixth Form.

With the combination of rising costs of education and a weak economic environment, the help which these awards provides to deserving beneficiaries is more urgently needed now than ever before. It is essential for us to provide our pupils with an environment to achieve their full potential. With your involvement and support, you will be certain of ensuring that pupils, past, present and future will appreciate and take pride in the ongoing success of the school. They too will develop loyalty and passion for the school, thus building on its long history; therefore perpetuating the original intentions of its founder, Peter Blundell.

We will be introducing a programme of opportunities to develop career interests, to build networks and also encourage social activities and events which would appeal to all Blundellians, young and old, male and female embracing the friendships and relationships formed whilst in the Blundell’s fold.

"Think where man's glory most begins and ends,
And say my glory was I had such friends." W B Yeats

We are very grateful indeed to many of you who have made generous donations in the past, large and small either to the general appeals or for specific areas of interest.  We are also very thankful to those of you who have left the School something in your Will. Going forward we hope you will continue to be involved or become involved for the first time, your support really does make a difference as it insures teh continued development of this fine school, which strongly promotes a comprehensive preparation for life after Blundellls, instilling as it does the fundamental qualities of friendship, integrity, confidence and independence. These are developed not solely in the classroom, but in tandem with enjoyment on the sports field, in the music, drama and arts and in so many other areas.

Please do look at our website, it exists to provide a focus for all Blundellians, who can then maintain their links with the School and with each other wherever they may be, nationally or internationally.
