Foundation History

The Foundation Office officially opened on 1st January 1999 taking fund-raising responsibility from the Craigmyle-led appeal as well as providing an administration centre and contact point for all interested in Blundell’s.

As a result of the request for updated database information sent out to 3,700 Old Blundellians, a remarkable 1,300 replies have been received to date, many including letters of good wishes and requests for information.

Recently the Foundation has taken on board the administration of the growing Friends of Blundell’s, leaving the way clear for Friends to organise occasions such as the Summer Ball, suppers after concerts and other events. The Peter Blundell Society has been a great support. Committee members have volunteered to advise the Foundation on a range of topics. Links with the Old Blundellian Club have been established and it is hoped that they will grow over the years.

The Head Master and Governors, together with Craigmyle, felt strongly that a central Foundation dedicated to helping all constituencies wanting to assist the School was an essential step forward.

It has been gratifying, over the past six months, to see this concept physically established and moving forward. Patricia Thompson has played a central role in this and is well on the way to establishing a definitive database. We look forward to your visits, contacts and ideas.
